This week we have a half marathon through Brooklyn and a princess weekend in Orlando. Stay tuned for community races and poll results from yesterday’s question about Uncle Chen at the bottom. Have a great weekend!
RBC Brooklyn Half Marathon
RBC Brooklyn Half
📆 Saturday May 18, 2024
The RBC Brooklyn Half is hosted by New York Road Runners, the same organization that puts on the NYC Marathon and the NYC Half. Like the NYC Half, this race also starts in Prospect Park, but rather than venture towards Manhattan, it travels in the opposite direction, heading deeper into Brooklyn. Part of the 5 Borough Series, it gives runners an in depth look at areas of New York most tourists (and plenty of residents) don’t often travel to.

Disney’s Princess 5K | 10K | Half Marathon
Disney Princess Half
📆 Friday February 23 - Sunday February 25
The Princess Half is VERY pro-costume so if you’ve got a tutu, tiara, or pair of glass running sneakers, bring ‘em. (On second thought, maybe not the glass sneakers). The magical race starts near EPCOT, runs through Magic Kingdom and then finishes back by the giant globe. As with all Disney races, there are photo ops galore, with plenty of characters lining the course.

What The Rundown Community Thinks of The Smoking Brother 🚬🚬
The results are in! 57% of our Rundown Community considers Uncle Chen’s chain-smoking during marathons to be gross and inconsiderate.
Quotes from Rundown Readers:
“Dumbest thing I have ever heard or seen.”
“Yuk all around.”
“Toxic exposure to other runners with data supporting the increased risk. Most unhealthy thing he can do, particularly for running. Very poor model for other runners and youth. Races are public events-smoking should be banned globally.”
“It’s his choice but if it effects others around him then it’s not fair to them. It also sends a mixed message about good health and the damage smoking does to the body. I’m impressed though that he can smoke n run without being out of breath!”
