With high-end running watches regularly crossing the $500 threshold, upgrading your wrist tech shouldn't require a second mortgage. In our latest deep-dive gear review, we put the new Amazfit Active 2 through the wringer on high-mileage long runs to see if a sub-$130 watch can survive a serious training block.
Boasting a blazing 2,000-nit AMOLED screen, built-in GPS, offline GPX mapping, and a 10-day battery, it’s giving premium multi-sport watches a serious run for their money. But how does it hold up against the Garmin ecosystem when the mileage gets heavy?
At 37 years old, struggling with midlife depression, Julie Weiss went for a barefoot run along the beaches of Kauai and made a promise to change her life through movement.
That single decision sparked a journey that eventually led to 121 marathons and over $1 million raised for pancreatic cancer research. Driven by the memory of her father, Julie flew across the country every weekend—working a full-time job while running 52 marathons in 52 weeks. Now 56, the Spirit of the Marathon II star shares how embracing a purpose bigger than yourself can help you defy your limits and discover your inner light.
Running faster every day won't translate to race-day performance—physiological adaptation requires deliberate workload polarization.
In Part 2 of our Marathon Masterclass, we break down the exact technical framework for structuring a 16-week marathon block, balancing the 80/20 rule, executing threshold and race-pace long runs, and implementing targeted strength movements to prevent late-race posture collapse.

NYRR has officially dropped the professional athlete field for the 2026 TCS New York City Marathon on Sunday, November 1.
To celebrate 50 years of the five-borough course, this year’s lineup features 40 Olympians and Paralympians, 25 global medalists, and 22 national record holders. Defending champions Hellen Obiri and Benson Kipruto return to head a stacked field featuring Sifan Hassan, Conner Mantz, Weini Kelati in her 26.2 debut, and wheelchair legend Marcel Hug.
When 40,000 runners cross the finish line at the Sydney Opera House on August 30, they’ll be taking home a piece of history that’s a little more unique than planned. A subtle artwork mix-up placed Munich’s Allianz Arena right on the reverse of the 2026 finisher medal.
Race organizers owned the moment with good humor, reminding everyone that what the medal represents never changes—and creating an instant collector's item in the process.
History was rewritten on the streets of Buenos Aires this weekend as Ethiopia's Yomif Kejelcha stunned the distance running world. Coming off a surprise appearance at the Media Maratón Ciudad de Buenos Aires, Kejelcha completely dismantled the record books, slicing a massive 29 seconds off Jacob Kiplimo’s pending world record to reclaim the global half marathon crown.
Driving off a blistering middle section—including a scorching 13:22 split between 10K and 15K—Kejelcha raced the final kilometers entirely alone before closing with a breathtaking 2:32 final kilometer to cross at 56:51.
