📰 NEWS
What a morning in the German capital! The 2026 BMW Berlin Marathon delivered everything our sport is about: lightning-fast pacing, unbelievable highs, and unforgettable drama down the stretch.
The Men's Crown: Ethiopia’s Guye Adola ran a brilliant tactical race, breaking away after 30km to cross in a blistering personal best of 2:02:50 and capture his second Berlin title.
A Historic Near-Miss: Tigst Assefa put on a masterclass in the women's race, tracking at world-record pace through 40km with a staggering 1:04:57 halfway split. Though late-race physical distress halted her record bid, she gutted out a remarkable 2:11:04 victory—shaving 49 seconds off her own course record for her third Berlin win.

Kenya's Agnes Ngetich clocked 1:05:15 at the World Road Running Championships in Copenhagen, taking one second off Peres Jepchirchir's 2020 mark. Ngetich ran completely solo from 1km in, winning gold by 50 seconds and securing her third career world record.
The dream of running down Boylston Street reached new heights this week. The Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) confirmed that a staggering 33,656 qualified runners applied for the 131st Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America—surpassing last year's applicant field. With field size limits in place, B.A.A. officials are currently auditing and verifying every submitted time. Official acceptance notices and the official cut-off time will be released by early October.
🎙️ PODCAST & BOOK REVIEW
Executing a flawless 26.2 requires far more than just logging weekly miles in a training diary—it demands intentional race-day strategy, disciplined pacing, and a proven game plan. This week on the site and podcast, I sat down with RRCA Certified Coach, Abbott 6-Star Finisher, and veteran pacer Dave Masterson to discuss his new book, "Marathon 101" by Dave Masterson: A Professional Pacer's Book Running Your Personal Best.
Having paced and finished over 70 marathons, Dave shares his front-row secrets to avoiding starting-line panic, mastering high-carb gut training, and pacing with absolute restraint—including his core rule to "be a Prius early so you can save the Ferrari for the end." Whether you're gearing up for your very first marathon or chasing a long-sought PR, check out the full article and listen to the audio episode over on MarathonJournal.com!

We spent a full twelve months putting the Shokz OpenDots ONE through high-mileage training blocks and daily routines. These featherlight, 6.5-gram clip-on true wireless earbuds use a clever cuff-style design that leaves the top and back of your ears completely free of pressure hot spots. Add in impressive Dolby Audio support, massive battery life (up to 40 hours total with the case), and complete situational awareness, and you have a premier open-ear option.
Do they let in ambient noise when traffic gets heavy? Absolutely—that's the trade-off for staying safe on the road. But for a secure, glasses-friendly fit that delivers surprisingly rich sound over the long haul, they are tough to beat.
