Finding Dates with Running Clubs

Young people in Australia are signing up for local running clubs to find love. Ever since Tinder launched in 2012, the way people meet romantic partners has changed. It went from people meeting at bars and events to feeling more comfortable approaching someone online than in real life.

Despite the popularity of dating apps (bumble and tinder are currently tied for the most popular dating app in the U.S.), women are looking for other ways to meet potential partners, one of which is by joining running groups.

Several Australian locals recently posted on TikTok that it is better to meet someone at 6 a.m. on Sunday than a Friday night. It seems their decision to join a run club or begin running has just as much to do with being unsuccessful on dating apps than a desire to train intensely to run a PR.

A 12-Year Old Expects to Star in the 2028 Olympics

5 foot tall sixth grader Evan Kim placed second among all girls and women at the Ventura Marathon (which runs through beautiful Ojai, CA) in February. She ran the 26.2-mile course in 2 hours 58 minutes, averaging less than 7 minutes per mile. Her goal is to run the fastest recorded marathon for a 12-year-old of either gender and she’s only four minutes away. Her trainer (also her dad) says it is simple: Just follow the workout plan and the record will be hers.

It’s not the will to win that matters—everyone has that. It’s the will to prepare to win that matters.
