Noah commits to race Tyreek

In August when Tyreek Hill claimed he would beat Noah Lyles in a race (but not by a lot), the majority of our Rundown community believed that Noah Lyles would win.

Now both the Olympic 100m champion and Miami Dolphins wide receiver have committed to a race organized by Terry Crews. The competition will be part of “Super Serious on Sight”–an elimination-style tournament between Olympic runners and pro athletes, that will take place after the 2024 NFL season and before the 2025 summer track season.

No coach for Ruth

Ruth Chepngetich won the women’s Chicago Marathon last Sunday and set a new world record by beating Tigst Assefa’s existing record by almost two minutes. Ruth became the first female to run a sub-2:10 in a marathon race and shared that she was entirely self-coached in her training.

Surgeons wear Apple Vision Pro in operating rooms

Surgeons at the University of California, San Diego have performed more than 20 minimally invasive operations while wearing Apple’s mixed-reality headsets during the past month. Wearing the headsets, which were released in February, has improved the effectiveness of surgeons while lowering the risk of injury. This has the potential to transform operating rooms and have an enormous impact on hospitals across the country, especially those without the resources to afford specialty equipment.

In laparoscopic surgery, doctors send a tiny camera through a small incision in a patient’s body, and the camera’s view is projected onto a monitor. Doctors must then operate on a patient while looking up at the screen, meaning they must stop and turn around to view the screen. As a result, most surgeons report experiencing discomfort while performing minimal-access surgery, with 1 in 5 surgeons sharing that they would consider retiring early due to the frequent pain. A mixed-reality headset would be helpful.

Previous headsets, like Google Glass and Microsoft HoloLens, were not high-resolution enough. So far, the Apple Vision Pro has been better than expected by performing surgeries that include acid-reflux and obesity. Doctors, assistants, and nurses all wear a headset during a procedure.

Brianna Joye shares tips for content creation

Brianna Joye started creating content creation during the pandemic and has built a national fitness community. The community started during COVID when Brianna began posting workouts that could be done anywhere without equipment. That’s when her online presence took off. While other influencers shared workouts with weights or Peloton bikes, Brianna offered workouts like quiet cardio, Pilates arm workouts and dancer arm workouts—all without any equipment.

In 2022, Brianna founded City Girls Who Walk, a walking group born from her desire to connect with others during the pandemic. When she was feeling lonely she posted to her millions of followers asking to join her to grab coffee and walk. The response was overwhelming. City Girls Who Walk grew into a community where women could connect and bond. The group is now in over 200 cities and has plans to bring its communities across cities together.

While Brianna’s fitness content has evolved, she credits her online success to persistence and consistency. There are many influencers, so Brianna works hard not to compare herself to others. Instead, she posts everyday and does not worry about the views. In the beginning Brianna was only getting 100 views on her videos, but she kept posting 2 or 3 times per day and eventually, it took off.
