The Benefits of Training in the Cold
New research suggest that keeping muscles cool increases the benefits of aerobic training. At a recent conference, physiologist Dominique Gagnon presented a decade’s worth of data suggesting that training in the cold results in enhanced endurance. As we enter the coldest months of the year, it’s nice to know that winter training offers extra benefits.
What is great about the cold? Cold-weather exercise requires the body to burn more fat and less carbohydrates than warmer conditions. By exercising in the cold, muscles do not overheat, which enables them to burn more fat for aerobic energy. In the the long run, this trains the body to become more efficient.
Artificial sweeteners tied to less healthy diets
A study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition suggests that folks who consume artificial sweeteners eat an overall lower quality diet. Increased artificial sweetener intake was linked to a lower consumption of fruits and vegetables and more processed foods.
While artificial sweeteners replace added sugar, consumers of sugar substitutes tend to also consume foods and beverages that are high in saturated fats, sodium and added sugar, which brings down the quality their overall diet.

Words To Run By 🏃♀️🏃🏽♂️
I'm always nervous. If I wasn't nervous, it would be weird. I get the same feeling at all the big races. It's part of the routine, and I accept it. It means I'm there and I'm ready.
