Cancer survivor to run the Boston Marathon with his doctor

Later this month, John B. Johnson will run the Boston Marathon.

2 years ago, John ran the Cleveland Marathon in just over 3 hours, which was the first time he had run fast enough to qualify for Boston. He was excited. But 2 weeks later, John woke up from a colonoscopy to his doctor telling him that they had found a mass that was likely cancer.

John could not believe it. At 35 years old, he was in the best shape of his life. John’s Boston Marathon plans were put on hold as he fought the disease.

While fighting cancer during the past 2 years, John became friends with his surgeon at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. David Rosen. As they worked to eradicate John’s cancer (which they successfully accomplished!), they also trained for the Boston Marathon.

Now, John and David will run the Boston Marathon together on April 21.

High school football player outruns Olympic champion

On Saturday at the Pepsi Relays in Florida, high school football player Tywan Cox ran a 45.14 second split in the final leg of the high school boys 4x400m relay to defeat Olympic gold medalist Quincy Wilson, who ran a 46.24 second split. Tywan’s 45.14 second split was the fastest in the competition.

At the Paris 2024 Olympics, 16-year-old Quincy Wilson became the youngest male track and field athlete to win an Olympic gold medal when USA won gold in the 4x400m relay. Quincy only ran in the heats during the Paris Olympic games.

Steph Curry’s game day breakfast

Stephen Curry eats the same breakfast on game day. It includes:

  • Egg - an omelet or a scramble with breakfast meats and spinach.

  • A bowl of yogurt, granola and some mixed berries.

  • A little protein smoothie.

  • If feeling adventurous, Steph eats half of a waffle or something similar to get a little carbs.

Steph’s pregame meal can vary. It typically includes a type of protein (fish or chicken), with a vegetable and pasta or rice.

What is Steph’s favorite dishes on an off day? There’s nothing better than Ayesha’s (Steph’s wife) chicken parmigiana or her Spanish-rub chicken with parsley-mint sauce.
