Race Lineup for May 30, 2025

Inspiration for a running bachelor(ette) party

  • Courtney Kitchen, a runner bride from Connecticut, recently posted about her fun weekend bachelorette bash. She and 7 friends wore matching all-pink running outfits–went for a morning run, then cleaned up for a night out.

  • Back in January, Olivia Paxton of North Carolina hosted her own 5K race on the morning of her wedding. Wearing a white running jacket, the bride welcomed a strong turnout. The race was legit: coffee and pastries, a medal ceremony and champagne for the podium finishers.

  • In April, Emily Marchant, ran the Brighton Marathon hungover after a night out with her bridesmaids. Dressed in a hen costume and running on 3.5 hours of sleep, Emily placed third by clocking an impressive 2:55:45.

  • As part of his 2023 bachelor party, Norwegian distance legend Jakob Ingebrigtsen ran a beer mile in a 5:22.

Other ideas for your running-themed bash include race-bib style invitations, a hydration station that doubles as a bar, and a pre-party pasta night for carb-loading.

The mental health of moms is in decline

The mental health of mothers has declined according to a recent study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. The study found that moms who reported “fair/poor” mental health has increased 63.6% from 2016 to 2023.

Fathers have also seen a decline in mental health quality, but it was not as significant as mothers.

Is walking a good enough form of exercise?

Walking can be effective at building a baseline cardiovascular fitness level and is a great form of exercise. Especially for those who have not previously been active or those who are interested in starting a running routine, walking allows for gradual increases in intensity.

Regular walking can help to stabilize blood sugar, strengthen the heart, reduce dementia risk, promote weight loss and boost mood.
