Possibilities

In partnership with

Things that seem impossible are often only beliefs we hold to protect ourselves.

We know this because we often surprise ourselves when we are challenged, which proves that we are more capable than we think. Unless there is a definite reason why something is impossible, it is probably possible.

We may not achieve our goals overnight, but they are most always possible. It can be easy to get demoralized and begin to doubt ourselves, but things are rarely as impossible as they seem and doubting ourselves rarely helps the situation. Instead, by developing healthy habits, like running, we can remind ourselves that the possibilities that exist are attainable. As Olympian Kara Goucher has said “Running allows me to set my mind free. Nothing seems impossible. Nothing unattainable.”

Like Kara shares, the power of running allows us to see impossibilities as possibilities and unattainable goals as attainable feats. All that is required is work, time and patience.

3 ways to consider possibilities this week.

1. Take action: Taking action doesn’t guarantee that we accomplish our goals, but not taking action guarantees that we won’t. Thinking about a marathon won’t help us to run one, but registering and beginning to train will. The possibilities that we want to exist require our action.

2. Focus on what matters: There will always be alternatives that we are curious about. Other paths that our lives could have gone down with different decisions, friends, relationships, schools and careers. Instead of focusing on what didn’t happen or could be possible, decide on what matters then develop a thoughtful set of priorities to turn potential into reality.

3. Don’t limit yourself: Anything is possible. As Usain writes “anything is possible I don’t think limits.” That is the mindset that created a legendary sprinter who maintains the 100 meter world record. Similar to Usain, we can all benefit from not limiting ourselves. We are more capable than we think.

Thanks for reading. Let’s have a great week!

When I’m not feeling my best I ask myself, ‘What are you gonna do about it?’ I use the negativity to fuel the transformation into a better me.
