Inspiration from Beyonce’s Country Album

Last week, Beyonce released her new country album, Cowboy Carter. The iconic pop star, who began her career as a member of Destiny’s Child, has sold over 200 million records worldwide. Her newest album has been over five years in the making and follows the release of her single ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’, which topped Billboard’s country much chart last month.

Initial bangers from Cowboy Carter include Bodyguard, a cover of Dolly Parton’s Jolene and II Most Wanted that features a duet with Miley Cyrus.

How can Beyonce’s new album inspire us?

Always be evolving: don’t become stagnant and never let age prevent you from trying something new. At 42, Beyonce could have simply continued living a wonderful lifestyle with Jay-Z and her kids. Instead, she took on a new genre and crushed it - making the world better off in the process.

Do it your way: Beyonce didn’t copy Luke Combs, Carrie Underwood and other top country artists. She took inspiration from films like Urban Cowboy, Space Cowboys and Killers of the Flower Moon then shared appreciation for pioneers in the country world while creating country music in a unique way like only Beyonce can.

Be patient: The album took Beyonce over five years. Instead of releasing something half hearted, Beyonce stayed patient and released the album with grace at a time when the world could truly appreciate it. In a press release Beyonce shared, “It’s been really great to have the time and the grace to be able to take my time with it. I was initially going to put Cowboy Carter out first, but with the pandemic, there was too much heaviness in the world. We wanted to dance.”

Thanks Beyonce! Have a great week.
