Inspiration from Global Running Day

Motivation from Global Running Day

This Wednesday is Global Running Day, a day when the world celebrates running. The first Global Running Day was held in 2016 when more than 2.5 million people from 177 countries pledged to celebrate by going for a run. Since 2016, Global Running Day has been held on the first Wednesday of every June with more than 100 organizations, including Running USA, USA Track & Field and Boston Athletic Association, now supporting the celebratory day.

Whether or not you plan to celebrate this week, here are 3 ways to use Global Running Day as motivation:

Sometimes we need to celebrate: Improvement requires consistency, which can create monotony. Sometimes we need to celebrate the things that we do consistently, like running, that make us better humans.

Running is global: People all over the world run. It doesn’t matter the religion, ethnicity or geography. Remembering the global nature of the sport can fuel your drive to take your runs to the next level.

We have a lot in common: Just like we can all run, humans have a lot in common. These days, the media tends to focus on topics that create division, fear and drama. Celebrations like Global Running Day serve as a reminder that we have A LOT in common.

Thanks Global Running Day! Let’s have a great week!
